The Platte County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Platte County Sheriff’s new office located at 11724 NW Plaza Cir, Kansas City, MO.  The ceremony will be held on April 18th at 1pm.

After spending 26 years at the Platte County Government Complex in Platte City, this new facility is a more centralized and convenient location, allows staff to spread out, and has upgraded facilities across the board.  According to Platte County Sheriff Mark Owen, “The new Sheriff’s Office better meets the needs of a modern law enforcement agency, enhances our abilities to serve the citizens of Platte County and provides our staff with better working conditions. We had outgrown our previous office space and multiple units were working in cramped quarters. The new Sheriff’s Office location will meet the needs of the Sheriff’s Office now and for the foreseeable future.”

The facility, which is the former home of the Platte County Resource Center, just recently underwent substantial renovation funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, the federal COVID relief program commonly referred to as ARPA.  As Platte County Presiding Commissioner Scott Fricker added, “The ARPA project financing was perfect in that this will allow the Sheriff’s staff to spread out, an important COVID mitigation feature. And because the ARPA money is one-time money, the Commission was committed to using these funds on one-time expenses, like this much-needed capital renovation project.”
