The 9th Annual Wings Over Weston is this Saturday, May 4 from 9AM to 3PM at Weston Bend State Park’s Bee Creek Shelter. While weather reports are predicting rain for parts of the Kansas City metropolitan area, the forecast for Platte County’s Weston, Missouri is sunny and 74 degrees. So escape the rain and bring the whole family to experience more than 30 stations that introduce birds, their migration, and the importance of conservation of habitat to children.

It’s fun and free for the whole family. Children will have the opportunity to win and make bird feeders and bird houses. Some stations include bird banding, live bird displays, face painting, and arts and crafts. Burroughs Audubon will have a station where children can donate their allowance to purchase bird guides and feeders. Boyers Artisan Meatballs Food Truck will be onsite with a child-friendly menu. Wings Over Weston is supported by Platte County Parks and Recreation and is a partnership between Burroughs Audubon and Missouri State Parks.

Laying out the trees

These trees will help hold the bank decreasing erosion. They will provide food and habitat for wildlife and filter the water before it enters the creek.

If you'd like to volunteer with Heartland Tree Alliance again or with another one of our programs at Bridging The Gap, you can find up-coming opportunities listed HERE.

Reservations are filling up fast for Barry Platte Park Shelters and Platte Ridge Park Shelter
