Platte County Treasurer Rob Willard distributed over a half million dollars to Platte County schools this month. The funds, totaling $519,355.55, are monies collected by the county from proceeds of criminal fines and asset forfeitures and are distributed to schools within the county. Allocation of the money is based on enrollment and is transferred to the district’s school building revolving fund.
“Our schools are the infrastructure of the future,” Willard said. “Being the father of a kindergartner, I see the impact of our public schools every day.”
Park Hill, which has the largest enrollment of any school district in Platte County, received 361,210.95; Platte R-III received $114,176.49; West Platte $18,794.68; North Platte $18,329.49; Smithville received $6,674.51; and East Buchanan, which has a small portion of its boundary within Platte County, received $169.43.
The Treasurer’s Office distributes proceeds from the school fund twice a year.
