Subject: Attempted rapist gets 30 years
An attempted rapist has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after trying to rape at her Weston home. Keith L. Robinson, 49, entered the house through the unlocked front door and pushed the woman down, tore off her clothes, and attempted to rape her.
Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd, “Rapes committed by complete strangers who enter a woman’s home illegally are very rare. But they are also among the most horrifying crimes that can be committed. It’s good to know this man will be in prison until he is at least 70 years old.”
On August 12, 2008 at about 6:45 a.m., Robinson approached the victim outside her home and asked her whether she needed any landscaping work done. The woman declined, and Robinson left.
Robinson returned a short time later and entered the house through the unlocked front door. A five-year-old girl was in the front room of the house when Robinson entered.
Robinson locked the door behind him and took off all of his clothes except his boxer shorts. |

Robinson then found the woman in a downstairs bathroom. He pushed the woman into a bathtub, tore off her shorts and shirt, and touched her inappropriately.
The woman yelled for help and kicked and punched at Robinson. Robinson then left the house and was arrested by a Weston police officer after a short foot chase.
Zahnd said, “Weston is a wonderful and safe small city, and we intend to do everything we can to help keep it that way. Thanks to the intended victim’s efforts to fight off the defendant and the actions of an alert police officer, this defendant was immediately arrested so that justice could be served.”
Robinson was sentenced to 15 years in prison for first degree burglary, 30 years for attempted rape, and 30 years for attempted forcible sodomy. The sentences are to be served concurrently with each other. Robinson must serve 85% of his attempted rape and sodomy sentences or reach age 70 before he becomes eligible for parole.
The case was investigated by the Weston Police Department, with the assistance of the Platte County Sheriff’s Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Jaclyn Taylor.
