Subject: Man who videotaped sex with teen sentenced to 25 years
A Kansas City man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for videotaping himself having sex with a 16-year old girl. Edward D. Shockey, 35, received the sentence December 17 after he pled guilty in Platte County Circuit Court to sexual exploitation of a minor, statutory sodomy, and promoting child pornography.
Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said, “This defendant turned a teenage girl’s home into a house of horrors where she was repeatedly sexually abused until it became commonplace. To add insult to injury, the defendant videotaped his terrible crimes.”
Judge Abe Shafer sentenced Shockey to 11 years in prison for sexual exploitation, seven years for statutory sodomy, and seven years for promoting child pornography. He ordered the sentences to run consecutively.

Zahnd said, “I’m committed to recommending significant punishment for anyone who abuses Platte County children. While many of our cases involve younger child victims, even teenagers deserve protection from predators like this defendant.”
The case was investigated by Riverside Department of Public Safety. It was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Chris Seufert
