Farley man gets 25 years for child rape

A Farley man who forcibly raped and sodomized a 14-year-old girl and molested a six-year-old girl has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.  Roger W. Keeton, 44, received the sentence on August 20 after pleading guilty last year to the offenses.

Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said, “This defendant sexually abused these girls whenever he wanted.  His disregard for the damage he was inflicting is absolutely horrific.”

On September 9, 2006, the Platte County Sheriff’s Department received a report of sexual abuse of two girls that spanned a period of nine years.

One victim disclosed that Keeton had sex with her twice, first when she was in the 8th grade.  The second incident occurred about a year later.

A second victim reported touched her private areas during naptime when she was about six years old.

Judge Owens Lee Hull Jr. handed down the sentence following Keeton’s guilty plea to statutory rape, forcible sodomy, forcible rape and child molestation.  Keeton’s criminal defense lawyer withdrew shortly after Keeton pleaded guilty, and Keeton was represented by a public defender at sentencing.

Keeton has been found guilty of three prior felonies.  During one, he pointed a shotgun at two people and said, “I will blow your [expletive] heads off.”  Keeton will be required to serve at least 85% of his 25-year prison sentence.

Zahnd said, “Few crimes are more horrible than sexual abuse of children.  This defendant deserves every day of this long prison term.”

The case was investigated by the Platte County Sheriff’s Department.  It was prosecuted by Joe Vanover.
